These power packed trailers are changing the perception about women’s roles for good

It’s been a while that I got back to scribbling online. Although, I never missed a thing happening around I just didn’t have the mind to present all my thoughts orderly on the blog.

Hell yes, it’s good to be back with a bang! Today I have for you a list of recent movie/ web series trailers starring “sheroes” (She+heroes) Of course you got that, I know you are smart.

The first trailer that must come to mind is Ruby Rose’s Batwoman which has over three million views.

Batwoman

Kate Kane tries to overcome her demons to protect the streets of Gotham as Batwoman and become a symbol of hope in the absence of Batman. This superhero series is of course based on the DC Comics character and is scheduled to air on The CW, where it will air on Sunday nights. The trailer gives us an insight of Ruby Rose playing Kate — a street fighter and a lesbian with a strong passion for social justice. We see her fight Alice (Elizabeth Kane) – the leader of the Wonderland Gang who is equally charming and maniacal – from destroying Gotham’s security. What a suitable super villain for a fascinating Batwoman! This looks likes its going to be quite a riveting series. Also, did you know they were actually sisters?

Release: Every Sunday this fall on The CW (exact date of release not disclosed yet)

Nancy Drew

Although not a movie, this CW series is very unlike the usual bright and colourful portrayal of teenage snitch Nancy Drew from the book written by publisher Edward Stratemeyer. While the premise does not say a lot about the much awaited series, what we can understand from the trailer is that Nancy Drew finds herself involved in a ghostly mystery revolving around a murder. The trailer then shows her and her four friends, who are both witnesses and suspects in the case, team up to find the culprit.

Release: Every Wednesday this fall on The CW (exact date of release not disclosed yet)

I AM MOTHER

This sci-fi Netflix movie shows a teenage girl, who is the first of a new generation of humans to be raised by Mother – a robot designed to repopulate the planet after an apparent human extinction. However, their unique and complex relationship is threatened when the system is breached and an injured stranger walks in. Her presence makes the girl question everything she has learned about the outside world from her Mother. Sounds like quite a nail-biting sci-fi plot!

Disney’s Maleficent: Mistress of Evil

Maleficent: Mistress of Evil picks up several years after Maleficent, which spoke of the events made the strongest fairy a notorious villain driving her to curse baby princess Aurora. This upcoming film explores the complex relationship between the fairy and the soon to be queen as they face many more adversaries while trying to protect the moors. You cannot help but admire Angelina Jolie’s strikingly powerful presence as the slightly scared looking yet devilish horned fairy.

Dark Phoenix

Although a little old to be on a recent list, how could we ever ignore Jean Grey one of the X-Men’s most beloved characters? In this upcoming movie we will get see Jean evolve into the iconic Dark Phoenix. From the trailer it appears to be the most intense X-Men movie till date, as it shows us how during a life-threatening mission in space Jean is hit by a cosmic force transforming her into one of the most powerful mutants. Trying to get hold of her increasingly unstable power Jean spirals out of control, threatening to destroy our very planet. Also we get to see Sophie Turner bring out some really intense emotions after her strong performance while portraying the character of Sansa Stark in HBO’s popular fantasy series Game of Thrones which ended recently.
